South Florida HJA Charity Horse Show Concludes at Palm Beach

Wellington, FL – November 28, 2017 – Competition commenced on Wednesday, November 21, with the 67th Annual South Florida Hunter Jumper Association Charity Horse Show at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC).
The highlight class of the week, Saturday’s $35,000 Spy Coast/Sweet Oak Farms Grand Prix saw a top finish to Eduardo Menezes of Carlsbad, CA, and Dimitri, owned by E2 Stables. The pair earned the victory after contesting the course designed by Guilherme Jorge (BRA) and completed the short track in 40.226 seconds.

 Luis Biraben of Wellington, FL, and Polytelle, owned by Miguel Madero and Florencia Cacabelos, trailed just behind Menezes and finished the class with a jump-off time of 41.136 seconds ultimately clinching second place. Closing out the top-three was Jessica Springsteen of Colts Neck, NJ, piloting Stone Hill Farm’s Volage Du Henry through the jump-off track in 41.355 seconds. The class, which featured 39 entries, saw six combinations move forward to contest the short course. The top three finishers were the only pairs to secure a double clear effort in the highlight class of the week.

The week served as a precursor to the highly anticipated ESP Holiday Series, which is set to begin on November 29 with the Holiday & Horses CSI 4* competition and continue through the beginning of January 2018.

The $216,000 Holiday & Horses Grand Prix presented by Palm Beach County Sports Commission will take place on Saturday, December 2, at 6:30 p.m. at PBIEC and feature the first round of charity drawings for the 2018 Great Charity Challenge presented by Fidelity® Investments throughout the evening.

The ESP Holiday Series will continue with six weeks of top hunter, jumper, and equitation competition before the start of the 2018 Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) on Wednesday, January 11, which will continue through Sunday, April 1.

Jumper Highlights

The $10,000 Paul Tracy Open Welcome Stake presented by Paul Tracy Farrier Service saw Alejandro Karolyi of Wellington, FL, and Lincourt Gino, owned by Monica Carrera, finish atop the class, after crossing through the jump-off timers in 38.598 seconds.

Kim Farlinger of Orangeville, Ontario, and Stanley Stone, owned by Sher Al Farm, collected second place with a time of 39.361 seconds. Jimmy Torano of Wellington, FL, and Dutch Lady, owned by Jennifer Gates, finished in third place after securing a finish in 42.467 seconds.

The $10,000 NAL/WIHS Child/Adult Jumper Classic presented by John and Monkia Preston, saw Petra Sobotova of Coral Gables, FL, and Jabab De Reve, owned by Sobotova, finish atop the class as the fastest clear round combination contesting the jump-off with a time of 28.458 seconds.

Lindsey Tomeu of Wellington, FL, and Bonapart, owned by DBHC, LLC, collected second place after completing the short course in 28.92 seconds. Lauren McCaulley of St. Charles, IL, and Umano De La Ruche, finished in third place after stopping the timers in 29.271 seconds.

Juliet Johansson of Coconut Grove, FL, rode to victory aboard Viva’s Roxanna W in the $1,500 Low Adult Jumper Classic presented by JET Show Stables after stopping the jump-own off timers in 44.314 seconds. Stephanie Ann Cook of Franklin, TN, and Lionsway Farm’s Fidele took second place with a time of 47.376 seconds, while Olivia Notman of Boca Raton, FL, and Santa, earned third place, stopping the timers in 49.604 seconds.

The $1,500 Low Children’s Jumper Classic presented by Summerfields Farm saw Daniel Kerins of Celebration, FL, and his own Sundance take first place with a jump-off time of 38.899 seconds, while Sydney Gorall of Wellington, FL, and her own Askano finished in second place with a time of 45.332 seconds. Vincent Desiderio of Chester, NJ, and Tranquility Farm’s Landini rounded out the top three with a time of 45.62 seconds.

The $10,000 High Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic saw Kaely Tomeu of West Palm Beach, FL, and Siboney Ranch’s Gentille ride to top honors in the class after finishing their jump-off track in 28.116 seconds.

Spencer Brittan of Westlake, TX, and USA Today captured second place in the jump-off after stopping the timers in 28.414 seconds. Danielle Torano of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Jimmy Torano’s Diamant Des Biez were presented with third place honors for their jump-off time of 29.002 seconds.

The $10,000 NAL Low Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic presented by Hollow Creek Farm saw Kelly Arani of Dover, MA, and Marigot Bay Farm LLC’s Kentucky Bourbon SCF ride to top honors in the class after finishing their jump-off track in 27.984 seconds. Danielle Stacy of Ipswich, MA, and Hot Topic, owned by Stacy, concluded the class in second place after stopping the clock in 28.47 seconds. Alexandra Welles of Wellington, FL, and her own XM secured third place with a time of 28.846 seconds.

Hunter Highlights

The $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby presented by PJP Farm & Spring Gathering boasted a win for Jennifer Bliss of Loxahatchee, FL, aboard Poker Face, owned by Harris Hill Farm, LLC, as the pair rode to a final score of 184. Bliss also rode Final Destination, owned by James Lala, to second place honors after earning a 181.5. Third place honors were captured by Lainie Wimberly of Ridgefield, CT, and Brilliant, owned by ALR Farm LLC, earning a 178.

Sienna Pilla of Ridgefield, CT, and Robin Hill’s Snapshot, owned by Piccolino Farm LLC, rode to first place in the $5,000 Pony Hunter Classic presented by Sweet Oak Farm. Caroline Passarelli of High Falls, NY, and Spellbound, owned by Stella Wasserman, earned second place, ahead of Alexa Elle Lignelli of New York, NY, and her own iParty, who ultimately finished in third.

Samantha Kramig and Disclosure are presented the Lamborghini Trophy at the 67th Annual SFHJA Charity Horse Show.

Miranda Green of Wellington, FL, and her own Insightful finished atop the $500 NAL/WIHS Children’s Hunter Classic presented by Aster Hill. Isabella Longo of Plantation, FL, and her own Into The Grey captured second place. Third place honors were also presented to Longo, this time aboard Carriage Hill Farm’s Love Actually.

The $250 Low Children’s Hunter Classic presented by Dr. Annette Friend saw Chapin Cheska of Waukesha, WI, and Rio-Fined, owned by Cara Cheska, take top honors ahead of Mia Green of Wellington, FL, and CR VIP, owned by Nina Sohn, who secured second. Third place was won by Sara Hardin of Royal Palm Beach, FL, riding her own Cowboy Up.

Samantha Kramig of West Palm Beach, FL, and her own Disclosure took top honors in the $2,000 Junior/Amateur Owner Hunter 3’3″ Classic presented by Marigot Bay Farm after completing their courses with a two round score of 168. Kelly Arani of Dover, MA, and Leonetti, owned by Marigot Bay Farm, LLC, took second place honors with a score of 165, while Kaitlin Porath of Charlotte, NC, and her own Breaux rounded out the top three with a total score of 165.

Grady Lyman of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, and Camille Leblond’s Cayambe topped the $2,000 Junior/Amateur Owner Hunter 3’6″ Classic presented by RC Stables with a score of 170, while Tanner Korotkin of Wellington, FL, and Aribo, owned by Sandalwood Farms, earned a 168 for second place. Kelsey Donahoe of Ocala, FL, and her own Ausone earned third after receiving a 162.

Lindsey Tomeu of Wellington, FL, and Popish Farm, LLC’s Statement took top honors in the $500 NAL/WIHS Adult Hunter Classic presented by Aster Hill after earning a total score of 148. Emily Ablin of Palm Beach, FL, and her own Well Versed, secured second place honors with a score of 143, while Mollie Roth of West Palm Beach, FL, and Palm Ponies LLC’s Cherche rounded out the top three with a score of 138.

The $250 Low Adult Hunter Classic presented by Dr. Annette Friend saw a victory for Lisa Berger of Parkland, FL, and East Wind Farms, LLC’s Chloe, after completing the day with a score of 163. Second place saw a win for Caitlin Flynn of Loxahatchee, FL, and Cool Colony, for their overall score of 147. Third place went to Jill Brewer of Marshall, TX, and Pinecone Farm LLC’s Livin’ The Dream, for their total score of 138.
