Summer in the Rockies III Begins at The Colorado Horse Park – More Top Competition to Come

 Parker, CO – June 21, 2017 – Competition is in full swing at The Colorado Horse Park (CHP) and the 2017 Summer In The Rockies Series, featuring seven weeks of hunter, jumper, and equitation competition, will head into the height of the annual season in the coming weeks. The SIR Series began on Wednesday, June 7, and will continue through Sunday, July 23, concluding with the highly anticipated $100,000 Adequan® Grand Prix.

The 2017 SIR Series offers a $20,000 Welcome Stake, as well as $10,000 High Junior/Amateur Owner Show Jumping Hall of Fame Classic during each week of competition and each week’s grand prix competition highlights the weeklong schedule of events. Open to the public, the Saturday evening classes provide spectators and competitors with an ideal competition atmosphere, accentuated by the spectacular backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. General admission is free to the public, while entertainment, demonstrations, as well as food and cash bar service are available throughout the evening.

SIR III (June 21-25) will feature the first $10,000 Under 25 Grand Prix of the season, ahead of the $50,000 FarmVet Grand Prix on Saturday, June 24. SIR IV (June 28 – July 2) will bring back top hunter classes, showcasing a second $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby and $1,000 Pony Hunter Derby, alongside a $60,000 Horseware® Ireland Grand Prix.

SIR V (July 5-9) marks the continuation of the series and increase in prize money purse, offering the $70,000 Ariat® Grand Prix and secondary $10,000 Under 25 Grand Prix. SIR VI (July 12-16), hitting the midway point of the summer, will host the final $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby and $1,000 Pony Hunter Derby before welcoming the $80,000 Front Range Kubota Grand Prix.

The Colorado Horse Park will then host the final week of SIR from July 19, through July 23, to conclude competition during the series for 2017 calendar year. The week will feature the $100,000 Adequan® Grand Prix, the largest grand prix offered at the venue during the year. The week will also highlight the hunter discipline, welcoming the only World Champion Hunter Rider (WCHR) week of the series and offer a $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, complimenting what is sure to be an exciting week of equestrian competition at CHP.
