US Equestrian Announces NetJets® U.S. Jumping Team for FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ CSIO5* Calgary

US Equestrian released the names of the riders who will be competing for the United States in the FEI Jumping Nations Cup CSIO5* Calgary during the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ Tournament, Wednesday, September 5-9, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

First up is 19-year-old amateur, Lucy Deslauriers who is currently ranked 117th in the Longines FEI rankings. Deslauriers has spent the greater part of her summer jet-setting across the globe competing at Dublin, Bromont, Vancouver and Spruce Meadows. She has had an immense amount of success aboard her mount Hester, including a career-best at WEF this March when the duo won round 12 of the $132,000 Equinimity WEF Challenge Cup. Deslauriers recently brought home some first-place finishes aboard Hester and Kaspara in the CSI3* classes at Bromont and several top-three finishes throughout the summer.

2009 ASPCA Maclay winner Zazou Hoffman was also named to the NetJets Jumping Team for Calgary. Between California, Madrid, Canada and Portugal, Hoffman’s schedule has been jam-packed with star-studded events all summer long. In May Hoffman brought home a first-place finish aboard W Zermie 13 in the CSI2* classes in Madrid and has since had several top-ten finishes in several CSIO3*, CSI4* and CSI5* classes.

Beezie Madden needs no introduction as the most-tenured member of this team. Ranked number 12 in the globe in the Longines FEI Rankings, Madden has had an extremely successful show season in 2018 so far including wins at GLEF, Old Salem Farm, HITS Ocala, WEF and of course the 2018 Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Final. With a string of superstar mounts to her name, naming Madden to this team was a no-brainer.

And rounding out the team for Calgary is 31-year-old Andrew Welles. The Wellington, Florida native has spent most of June and July contesting the tracks at Spruce Meadows and even coming home with a win aboard Serpico in one of the CSI5* classes earlier this summer. He has seen a handful of top-five finishes with various mounts this year in Calgary, Upperville, Lexington and his home-field in Wellington.

The FEI Jumping Nations Cup CSIO5* Calgary is scheduled for Saturday, September 8th starting at 2:00PM GMT and will be broadcast live on FEI TV. Tickets for the event are available starting at $5 a seat and can be purchased on Spruce Meadows’ website.
