Wednesday Weekend Preview: Tryon Fall Series, Del Mar International, Oslo CSI5*

It’s another beautiful day in the jumper neighborhood, with horses arriving at their showing destinations around the world – from Oslo, Norway to Del Mar, California, it’s a weekend destined for stunning backdrops and major prize money!

While in the case of Tryon and Del Mar the big classes won’t be until next weekend, the opening weeks still have plenty to hoot and holler for. Here’s a little preview of the biggest shows on the docket:

Kingsland Oslo Horse Show CSI5*

The next leg of the Longines FEI World Cup is being held in Oslo, Norway, and the world class riders have shown up in spades. While there are no Americans on the start list for Norway at this point, nearly all the other favorites from the Global Champions Tour and Rio Olympics have donned their nordic sweaters for a northern showdown, including:

  • Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS)
  • Jos Verlooy (BEL)
  • Simon Delestre, Penelope Leprovost and Kevin Staut (FRA)
  • Marcus Ehning and Mereditch Michaels-Beerbaum (GER)
  • Scott Brash and Laura Renwick (GBR)
  • Athina Onassis (GRE)
  • Bertram Allen and Cian O’Connor (IRL)
  • Harrie Smolders (NED)
  • Rolf-Goran Bengtsson and Peder Fredrickson (SWE)
  • Steve Guerdat (SWI)

Classes will run all week with the FEI World Cup class on Sunday afternoon. Most of the riders have switched to a specialized string of indoor horses for the season, but a handful will appear on their Rio mounts (including silver medalist Peter Fredricson on H&M All In)
