The Colorado Horse Park (CHP) is pleased to announce the release of the 2018 Spring in the Rockies Prize List. The Spring in the Rockies Series will begin on Thursday, May 10, and continue through Sunday, May 27, and will feature three weeks of hunter, jumper and equitation competition. The Spring Series will offer weekly $10,000 Open Welcome Stakes, $1,000 Modified Junior/Amateur Classics, $1,500 Child/Adult Jumper Classics, as well as Low, Medium and High Junior/Amateur Classics with prize money up to $2,000. Saturday afternoons will also play host to the exciting $25,000 Spring in the Rockies Grand Prix.

The CHP hunter rings will attract some of the best riders in the region, hosting $1,000 Hunter Classics and the $2,500 National Hunter Derby, weekly. For equitation riders, a variety of medal classes will be offered throughout the series, which preludes the start of the 2018 Summer in the Rockies (SITR) Series.
The 2018 Spring in the Rockies Series will be followed by the venue’s premier competition series, Summer in the Rockies, to be held June 6 through July 22. The seven week series will draw competitors and spectators from around the nation as it hosts some of the largest awarded classes in the region, with over $1.5 million in prize money. Riders will see the return of the weekly $20,000 Welcome Stake, as well as $5,000 Jumper Derbies, $10,000 Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classics, and awarded circuit champions.
The Spring and Summer competition series will once again be under the management of Marion Maybank whose role now also expands to Director of Operations at CHP. “The unique environment and family-like atmosphere at CHP makes this venue the ideal host to welcome competitors, from those new to the sport, to the accomplished equestrian professionals and equine athletes that rank as some of the world’s best,” said Maybank. “I am eager to be in this leadership role for the 2018 season, which we hope will be one of CHP’s best.”
Hospitality will be allotted via the Berm Pavilion, formerly VIP Pavilion, and will be open to General Admission, providing shaded viewing of the International Arena, as well as the Olson Family Arena. A variety of pre-packaged foods will be available daily, as well as a cash bar in the afternoons. Picnic basket packages are also available for purchase-filled with an assortment of fruits, cheese and crackers, a beautiful Colorado Horse Park blanket, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options.
