Swiss rider Steve Guerdat has climbed to the very top of the Longines Jumping World Rankings, with 3,577 points. At only 37 years old, this is an amazing achievement!

- Longines Jumping FEI World Cup Standings – Western European League (2019/2020): 1st, 95 points

How did Steve get his start?
Steve’s father, Philippe Guerdat is a former show jumper and also the chef d’equipe of the French show juming team; Steve was fascinated by horses and as a result began riding at three years old. The horse bug bit, and he went on to train seriously at nine years old and competed on the Swiss Junior team, winning several medals. His very first trainer’s son, in fact, currently works for the farm as an assistant trainer.
Since his junior years, Steve went on to work for Jan Tops and then continued to compete at the international level, including multiple Olympic Games including Athens, Beijing, London, and Rio. He has had multiple top three FEI World Cup Final placings, Olympic gold and bronze medals, and of course is the cream of the crop now in the Longines World Rankings.
What else is Steve involved with?
Besides riding, Steve is also an ambassador for Right to Play, an organization that helps disadvantaged children improve their lives through games and sports. He also is a patron of Regar2moi, an organization that helps children with disabilities, particularly autism, improve their lives through sports. Working with horses helps children express their limitations and different circumstances in new ways.
What is happening while we wait out COVID-19?
With the COVID-19 pandemic, Steve is patiently laying low and training at his beautiful home stable in Elgg, Switzerland.
