The complete United States Olympic Show Jumping Team is in Aachen, Germany this week for the acclaimed FEI Nations Cup on Thursday, and it will be a true test of the Dream Team as their final prep event before the Olympic Games. And, you know, winning the Nation’s Cup in Aachen wouldn’t exactly be small potatoes, either.
All the riders will also be participating in the Turkish Airlines Grand Prix today, and in the second leg of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping, the Aachen Grand Prix, which will be held Sunday, July 17.
Each team member has brought a slew of horses for the week’s events, including their likely Olympic mounts, and USET team Chef d’Equipe Robert Ridland is also on hand to coach and observe. It’s a singular opportunity for the Americans to work out some kinks and make a statement, as they’ll be facing a very similar start list in Rio, including Simon Delestre (FRA), Michael Whitaker (GBR), Christian Ahlmann (GER), Ludger Beerbaum (GER), and Penelope LeProvost (FRA).
