[post_content] => Buffalo, New York – Aug. 15, 2016 – The Buffalo International Horse Show (BIHS) is celebrating its 70th year of competition with a look back in history. Some of the most recognized equestrian professionals of North America, such as Debbie Stephens, Bill Ellis, Missy Clark, Mason Phelps, Roger Young, Jerry Jacobs, Chuckie Graham, Molly Mills, Jack Fromm, Ian Millar, Don Snellings, Jerry Baker and Michael Matz have supported the long-standing BIHS.

The Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center (BTRC) will post pictures and memories of alumni leading up to the show, which runs September 14-18, as well as create a book of memories for the alumni, which will feature a beautiful layout and the narratives of those alumni who participate. The BIHS is excited to celebrate its 70thAnniversary with an alumni reunion, bringing everyone together.

“The Buffalo International Horse Show is rooted in history,” Executive Director of the BTRC Susan Schoellkopf said. “We want to bring together everyone who has been a part of our crucial history. We contacted all of the alumni, and we are thrilled with the response received. We have so many photos of equestrians showing during the BIHS, as well as wonderful memories that we will document for everyone to enjoy.”

The BTRC will show a slide show of the memories during the cocktail reception, held Friday evening, following the end of competition. The BTRC will put on a demonstration at 5:45 p.m., where spectators, supporters of BTRC and alumni will gather to watching the BTRC students connect with their horses and show what they have learned. It is certain to be an unforgettable evening.

In 2013, the BIHS received USEF Heritage Status from the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF). The designation of a USEF Heritage Competition is reserved for competitions that have been in existence for 25 years or more, and make contributions to the community outside of the show by maintaining and promoting the equestrian ideals of sportsmanship and competition. The BIHS is one of less than 20 national horse shows that are honored with this prestigious status, and it is a nod to the historic roots which have guided the expansion and growth of the BIHS.

The BIHS would like to thank their returning sponsors: Penelope Ayers and Ravens Wood Farm, Johnson Horse Transportation, Stephen A. Comunale, Caroline Moran and Goshen Hill Farm, Up the Creek Farm, Mr. and Mrs. James Bokor, EMO Insurance, The Hunting Horn and M&T Bank. Without their kindness and generosity, the BIHS would not be where it is today, as one of the top horse shows in the nation.
