Edwina Tops-Alexander — ranked #17 in the world, Olympic veteran and icon of Australian show jumping – has announced that she will be taking a break from elite show jumping. Normally such an announcement would be a cause for mourning, wailing, and gnashing of teeth, but in this case, we’re positively giddy.
Edwina stated on her Facebook page today that she and Global Champions Tour founder Jan Tops are expecting a baby in August.
“Today I have some exciting news to share with everyone. After a wonderful show in in Paris I’ve decided it’s time for me to hang up my boots for a while and cherish these moments whilst Jan and I will be “expecting” in August. Thank you to everyone for your support throughout this special time ahead of us.”
Edwina most certainly went out on a high note before her hiatus, winning the Hermes Grand Prix at the Saut Palais CSI 5* in Paris aboard California.
We are overjoyed to be welcoming a new little critter to the FEI Show Jumping family, and we send our best well-wishes to Edwina and Jan for a healthy and happy experience.
