Jumper Nation is saddened to confirm that HH Memphis was humanely euthanized at Spruce Meadows this morning. HH Memphis was competing with his longtime rider Quentin Judge in their first class of the week when they experienced a freak accident.
The 2006 Irish Sport Horse Gelding broke his leg and it was immediately apparent that the prognosis for recovery was extremely grim, and the horse was euthanized.
The beautiful gray was out of Armitage by Tamerarra and owned by Double H Farms of Wellington, Florida. He and Quentin were third in the Quebec Original FEI Welcome Qualifier at CSI3*-W Bromont in 2015, and Memphis was moving up the ranks quickly to fill the shoes of stablemate HH Dark de la Hart, who ironically has been recovering from an injury he sustained at Spruce Meadows last year.
There is no word at this time whether or not Quentin was injured in the fall, but we will provide updates as soon as they are available.
Our deepest condolences to Quentin and all of HH Memphis’s connections who are feeling the loss of their big gray friend.
