Alfano and Maspane Crowned Champion on Second Day of 2017 Buffalo International Horse Show |
Buffalo, N.Y. – Sept. 14, 2017 – Competition for the 71st Buffalo International Horse Show (BIHS) continued on Thursday in Buffalo, New York, with numerous exciting classes. The positive energy from Wednesday carried over into Thursday’s events, which saw several newly crowned champions in the hunter divisions.

In the Green 3’6″/3’9″ Hunter division, Susan Kimberly’s Girl Crush and SBS Farms, Inc.’s head trainer Jennifer Alfano maintained their lead from Wednesday, claiming the championship title. Alfano also finished strong with Silver Lining, owned by Kathy Chiaf, in the division, taking home the reserve championship.

Santa Maspane and Kennedy, owned by Kathryn Haefner LLC, came out on top in the Low 3′ Hunter division, holding on to their lead from Wednesday to secure the championship title on the second day of competition. Maspane also rode to the reserve championship finish with Kathryn Haefner LLC’s Endeavour in the division. The Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center (BTRC)’s Crisp, ridden by Alfano, clinched the championship in the Performance 3’3″/3’6″ Hunter division. It was Marvelous, owned by Christine Steer and ridden by Sarah Barge, who finished behind the pair with the reserve championship. For the $1,500 USHJA 3’/3’3″ Green Incentive, Alfano piloted SBS Farms’ Stardust to a win. Finishing just behind Stardust, Alfano also claimed second place with Sharon O’Neill’s Talladega. Chiaf rode her own Kindred to round out the top three. Randi Byrd, representing SBS Farms, took home first place in the $1,000 Phelps Media Group Grooms Class that followed the day’s competition. Sintifa Dusele claimed second place and Kayla Grant took third place, both representing Stellar Equestrian, to finish the day.
