Kevin Winkel and Osophia Take Grand Prix of Flintridge + More

It was a beautiful week in La Canada Flintridge, California for one of the longest-running west coast events, and riders and spectators were rewarded with perfect weather, flawless rounds, and a top-notch show.

$15,000 Flintridge Grand Prix

Kevin Winkel and Maplewood Inc.’s Osophia finished in fine form this past weekend at the historic Flintridge Riding Club, winning the $15,000 Flintridge Grand Prix on Saturday evening. The lovely homebred mare edged a field 21 deep to take home the top honors over a tricky but fair course designed by Mike Gallaway.  Kevin also nabbed fourth place on Maplewood’s Cartel to take home a good chunk of the purse.

The combination just edged Amy Hess and Calesco, owned by Blue Tree Farms, who would happily settle for second. The top three was rounded out by Laura Ware and her own Ursina du Perchet.

A true master of all trades! Second went to Michael Hebert and Quarter Note, a seven-year-old warmblood mare owned by Sheila Ryan. Taking third was Melody Liu aboard SVS Caremunde Z.
