The Third Annual 2017 Michael Nyuis Scholarship is accepting applications through December 1, 2016. The scholarship was created through West Palms Events to offer recipients the resources to further their training and equestrian education by attending recognized shows that might otherwise be out of reach. It is named in the memory of West Palms Events’ Dale Harvey’s nephew, who always helped others whenever he had the chance.

The scholarship gives five young riders the opportunity to attend a variety of high-level equestrian competitions throughout the show season. These riders will be chosen by the West Palms Events’ selection committee based on their commitment to and love for the sport. These scholarships are intended for riders who have the passion and drive to compete, but lack the financial resources to do so consistently throughout the year.

The Michael Nyuis Scholarship offers $6,500 dollars in horse show credit, to be used at all West Palms Events’ horse shows other than the Del Mar National.

Five Scholarship opportunities are offered in 2017: One to a Canadian rider; three to United States riders and one to the winner of the Onondarka Medal Finals. Fiona Sewell was victorious in the 2016 Onondarka Medal Finals at the Del Mar International Horse Show, where she earned her 2017 Michael Nyuis Scholarship.

To be considered for the scholarship, riders must fall under the following criteria:

  • Age 16-25 at the time of application
  • Must show commitment to the sport
  • Must show interest in potentially pursuing a career as a professional in the equestrian industry

All applications must be submitted through electronic forms through our website, find them by clicking here!
