The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has affected the early closing of most horse shows across the USA. However, many competitors are still looking for opportunities to keep learning and keep their horses fit, particularly if they’ve traveled for the winter and don’t have the ability to head back home immediately. The Ridge at Wellington offers a unique horse show experience that is still ON for the remainder of the scheduled season.
The Ridge Farm was conceptualized by US Olympian Nona Garson and George D’Ambrosio, dividing its operations into three locations: Wellington, Riverview, and Tewksbury. It offers world class show experiences, as well as training and sales services. The Ridge has been working with the USEF and has secured approval to continue the running of its horse shows at this time. On March 19, The Ridge released a statement:
“We are dedicated to providing our unique horse show experience adapted to all safety and health protocols recommended by the experts. Because of the nature of our schedule, locations, and show format, we rarely have large groups together at the same time and are enforcing routine disinfection and sanitization of common areas.
Our goal, as it always has been, is to provide a platform for horses and riders to train and develop in a show environment, on the best footing, and at a variety of venues.”
Unnecessary spectators are discouraged while the shows continue. Shows will be unrated. Per the USEF, there will be no accumulation of points, scores, money won, qualifications, or rankings toward any USEF award programs, USEF owned event, or selection to a US team from any competition held March 16 through April 14, 2020.
