Late Sunday afternoon, the Medium Junior Jumpers were competing under the bright orange of the setting sun. The ring crew began to clean up, and put up jumps to drag the arenas. The class had been moved to Denemethy because of the revised schedule, but this horse wasn’t a fan of that. The rider chose to excuse herself a few jumps in, and then went to the schooling ring. She listened to her coach and discussed what had happened, despite her disappointment at how the class had gone. It was an important one, her horse was braided, she was in whites, and her tack and clothing all was coordinated. Despite the class not going in her favor, she made the best of it, and schooled her horse. Counter canters, shoulder in, haunches out. Everything I described is in the photo. The horse’s resistance, the rider’s concentration, the late day setting, the importance of the class, simply look at the details. @andrewrybackphotography
