Lorenzo De Luca took no prisoners in yesterday’s second round of showjumping at the World Equestrian Games. Riding the gorgeous dark gray mare, Irenice Horta, De Luca entered the ring with confidence and exited holding onto the gold medal position. While yesterday’s track left only five riders with clear rounds, De Luca went in to win.
Throughout the track he maintained a beautiful forward pace. The crowd gasped as he got away with a bit of a rub on one of the final obstacles, but Irenice Horta was jumping on springs and got them home clear. The duo rocketed from their overnight ninth place standing to the first place position as their clear round stopped the clocks at 81.34 seconds.
