Kenya Citizen TV produced a darling piece earlier this week on a young rider who aspires to move up the levels of show jumping, and it proves to be a story of global reach of the sport, persistence of a passionate young woman, and of course the incredible support system that aids every young rider in pursuing greatness.
Show Jumping is a young sport in Kenya, but as the middle class grows and affordable equestrian options come available, more children and teenagers are being exposed to riding and the various disciplines. Such is the case for 13-year-old Hope Wangari, who fell in love with flat racing first, and has since found her calling popping over poles.
In the segment, Hope explains how she overcame a riding accident that caused partial paralysis, and her mother has fiercely supported her despite an intense allergy to horses.
This piece is a must-watch, and will remind you in the new year of the universal love between little girls and their horses.
