Helping race-retired Thoroughbreds and young horses is a cause near to the hearts of Nilforushan and his wife Francie, the duo behind the upcoming horse show series. Sharing the same ideals of bringing more opportunity to both horses and riders, Oakmont Ranch, a major player in Thoroughbred rehabilitation and training in Southern California, joined the Nilforushans in their endeavor, partnering with the horse show management to bring OTTB and young horse divisions to the show sans class fees. By offering competitive opportunities at a reduced cost, younger horses will have a chance to gain valuable experience in a show ring, while ensuring that owners and riders don’t have to break the bank in doing so.
“For years, Oakmont Ranch has been rehabilitating and training Thoroughbreds, some of which return to the racetrack and some of which find a new career in the hunter/jumper world. We have developed our own program for retraining OTTBs geared toward amateur riders, and immediately recognized the opportunity that the Nilforushans’ show series brought to these horses and their riders,” said Gary Broad, owner of Oakmont Ranch. “We feel it is so important to foster the Thoroughbred industry, and hope that by reducing show fees more of these young horses will have a chance to get in the ring.”
As if a lack of class fees is not enough, Nilforushan Equisport Events is also eager to unveil three stall options. Offering varying degrees of stalls ranging from permanent to tent stalls at price points of $400, $300 and $200, the management team hopes that hobby riders and those without the need for elite accommodations will benefit from lesser expenses.
Nilforushan Equisport Events is a top producer of destination horse shows, with the 2018 events being held at the historic Galway Downs in Southern California. The three-week Temecula Valley National Horse Show circuit will take place in April, May and early June, and the management team is eager to welcome competitors and fans to their one-of-a-kind horse show experience. Riders, owners, grooms, sponsors, and trainers can expect great sport, a first class VIP area, and plenty of entertainment, along with affordable horse showing options.
