With the temperatures soaring, the attention of all was drawn to the competition arenas sizzling with excitement. During Summer in the Rockies I, Triple Crown Nutrition was happy to be back at The Colorado Horse Park, recognizing the talents and hard work of top horse and rider combinations with its Triple Crown Excellence Award. Phillip Flynn, aboard his own Polar Ice, took home the first Triple Crown Excellence award of the series, wowing the crowd with their athleticism and confidence in the ring.
Flynn traveled over seven hours from Sheridan, Wyoming to compete three horses for two weeks at the prestigious Summer in the Rockies Series. Flynn and the eight-year-old Canadian Warmblood gelding, Polar Ice, were awarded the stunning tricolored ribbon and silver tray, along with a voucher for feed courtesy of Triple Crown.
Flynn started riding Polar Ice at four years old, purchasing him a year later at the age of five. The pair has competed all through Grand Prix, but Flynn opted to back down the height a little to gain some more confidence. “He is a very special boy. We are hoping to get him stronger in the body and mind this season before going back up,” said Flynn about his partner.
Flynn, who works for Colts Unlimited showing jumpers and starting countless youngsters, was unfazed when Polar Ice gave him some extra enthusiasm in the ring. Flynn shared that he is looking forward to competing again next week at the “wonderful” Colorado Horse Park.
