Ryan, winner of last year’s $100,000 Great American Insurance Group Grand Prix at Lake Placid and second place finisher in this year’s FEI WorldCup Finals, was fifth out of a field of 44 horses to try the 13-jump, one-round course designed by Olaf Petersen, Jr. of Germany. He set a tough mark to beat with a clean ride in 53.767 seconds. None of the remaining competitors could come close to his time until Laura Chapot, the second-to-last rider of the day, rode clean and fast on Out of Ireland. However, her time of 56.542 seconds left her short of Ryan’s time although it did prove good enough for second place.

Placing second was Laura Chapot on Cybel II followed by Devin Ryan on Chagrand.
