Rumors have been swirling about for the past couple of months, but it’s now official! HITS Chicago is moving its horse shows from Balmoral Park in Crete, Illinois to Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, Illinois. For full details on the announcement, catch up here. Lamplight will now run all of the HITS Chicago show dates. Its signature “A” series, Equifest (otherwise known as Chicago Festival of the Horse) will still run, as well. Additionally, dressage competition will still be held.
With this move will undoubtedly come change to shows at the venue. Equifest at Lamplight is a long-standing tradition. Each year, competitors travel from not just the Midwest but from all across the country to compete in unique classes, such as jumper speed derbies and international hunter derbies. Also, Dressage at Lamplight and the Dressage National Championships have long been held at the venue. As a personal competitor at Lamplight, I’m hopeful that the change will be a very positive one. I took this opportunity to bring together some of our favorite hunter, jumper, and dressage moments from Lamplight.
