The July Series at HITS Culpeper wrapped up with another full week of USEF-Rated hunter and jumper competition. The Cavalier Classic featured a $35,000 Open Jumper division, $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby, and $1,000 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix.
Jamie Gibson kept the momentum going after her win in the $20,000 HITS Open Prix during the Showday National, by kicking off the Cavalier Classic with a win in the $5,000 Open Welcome aboard CADDIE R in a time of 30.034. Laura Gaither Ulrich and Garda took second place [34.405], and Andrew Kocher on Doirin Clover Boy took third [35.251].
Taking home the blue ribbon in the $10,000 Open Prix were Kama Godek and Stonehenge 5 in a time of 37.527. Kocher and Camryn rode to second place [37.797], while Bree Rosales and Voigtsdorfs Quonschbob took third place [37.831].
Saturday afternoon, July 11, came to a close with the Culpeper Equitation Classic in the Grand Prix Ring. The HITS Culpeper Equitation Classic is designed for Junior, Amateur, Children’s, and Adult riders showing at 3’ or 3’6”. Emma Pell rode to the blue ribbon in this unique class with a score of 76. Andie Preblick rode to second place, [75], and Meghan Finlay rounded out the podium in third [72].

Featured jumper competition at the HITS Culpeper July Series came to a wrap with the $20,000 Purina Animal Nutrition Grand Prix on Sunday, July 12. Purina is the Official Feed of all HITS Shows. Rosales and Voigtsdorfs Quonschbob moved up in the standings from their third place finish in the $10,000 Open Prix on Friday to win the $20,000 Purina Animal Nutrition Open Prix on Sunday. This team was victorious as they crossed the timers in 42.798. Godek and Stonehenge 5 rode to a second place finish [44.307], and Ashley Foster and Stardust were close behind to take third place [44.487].
The Cavalier Classic hosted several featured classics for Hunter riders, including the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby, $1,000 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix and Marshall & Sterling Finals League classes and classics.

Leading the field with a score of 187 in the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby was Emily Williams for her ride aboard Royal Dancer. Williams topped the Hunter Classic round with a score of 90 and finished the Handy Hunter round with a 97. In second place were Miranda Scott and Piper [176]. McKenzie Clayton and Farcolle took third [175.5].
Ana Bertozzi and Cousteau rose to the occasion in the $1,000 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix with scores of 82 and 83 for a 165 total. The Platinum Performance Hunter Prix is open to Junior and Amateur riders, and is the qualifying class for the Platinum Performance Hunter Prix Final at the HITS Championship. Mia Poppinga and Best Wishes rode to second place [148], while Emma Routhier took third place with Fandango [146].
