After two exciting weeks in Rome, the Longines Global Champions Tour heads to Šamorín, Slovakia for the last two legs of the series. After that is the LGCT Playoffs from 18-21 November, in Prague. Let’s catch up with the current leaders of the individual championship, which will culminate in the Super Grand Prix in Prague, as well as the teams competing in the Global Champions League, battling it out for a chance in the semi-finals of the GCL Super Cup.

Here is the leaderboard after Rome II in September

First is Olivier Roberts, who has been having an incredible season. The Frenchman is tied with 228 points for first place with Ben Maher. Olivier and Vangog du Mas Garnier, his 12 year old Selle Francais stallion, won the LGCT Grand Prix of Rome II on September 18 with a blazing fast jump off.

Next is Britain’s Ben Maher, who is tied in the rankings with Olivier Robert, both with 228 points. In Rome II, Ben and Ginger-Blue finished 5th in the LGCT Grand Prix.

Next is Australian Edwina Tops-Alexander with 220 points; she and Fellow Castlefield have been putting in great rounds lately, but they need another win to qualify for the Super GP.

Fourth in the LGCT is Sweden’s Peder Fredericson, whose H&M All In has been an incredible partner; they took 6th in the LGCT GP of Rome II. Peder and Edwina are teammates on the GCL Valkenswaard United, winning the GCL Teams competition in Rome II. The rest of the team is: Alberto Zorzi (ITA), Marcus Ehning (GER), Bertram Allen (IRL), and Gilles Thomas (BEL). They are guaranteed a spot on the podium in Prague!

Only four of the GCL Teams will go to the Super Cup, and along with Valkenswaard United, the Shanghai Swans and Paris Panthers are guaranteed a spot. The Shanghai Swans are: Alexandra Thornton (GBR), Pius Schwizer (SUI), Max Kuehner (GER), Malin Baryard-Johnsson (SWE), Lucas Porter (USA), and Christian Ahlmann (GER). They won GCL of Rome I, and Malin won the LGCT Grand Prix with her supermare H&M Indiana

The Paris Panthers are Gregory Wathelet (BEL), Darragh Kenny (IRL), Nayel Nassar (EGY), Harrie Smolders (NED), Jennifer Gates (USA) and Pénélope Leprevost (FRA). They were second in the GCL Rome I competition, with Eve and Harrie turning in great rounds.

The remaining fourth position is now a battle between the London Knights, Berlin Eagles, and Monaco Aces. The London Knights hey took first on the GCL of Valkenswaard in August, and have had an incredible season with Douglas Lindelow (SWE), Ben Maher (GBR), Martin Fuchs (SUI), Belgian brothers Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) and Nicola Philippaerts (BEL), and Emily Moffitt (GBR).

The Berlin Eagles are Ludger Beerbaum (GER), Philipp Weishaupt (GER), Christian Kukuk (GER), Jane Richard Philips (SUI), Laura Klaphake (GER), and Diego Ramos Maneiro (ESP). They won the Hamburg GCL Team event in August.

And finally there are the Monaco Aces: Julien Epaillard (FRA), Jos Verlooy (BEL), Jérôme Guéry (BEL), Laura Kraut (USA), Billy Twomey (IRL), and Jeanne Sadran (FRA). With lots of experience and some new blood, they’ve been one to watch all year.
