Four Olympic Gold Medals and one Bronze; two Gold, one Silver and one Bronze at World championships; six Gold, three Silver and two Bronze at European Championships is enough – Ludger Beerbaum announced his retirement from the German National Team.
Ludger Beerbaum always planned to stop with a success. Now he takes the opportunity to resign after winning the Bronze Medal at the Olympic Games Rio. He won’t take part in any more Championships, and the Nations Cup Final in Barcelona in four weeks’ time will be his last appearance in the red jacket of the German National Team. “It was a tough discussion” he admits and assures that he won’t quit completely. “I do have a lot of projects going” says the most successful active show jumper. “I will focus on my stable at home and training and selling young horses.”

In his hometown the equestrian centre Riesenbeck International opened in 2015, offering national tournaments, clinics and international seminars. As president of the Longines World Equestrian Academy Ludger Beerbaum will support the development of the show jumping market in the Asian continent. “I won’t get bored,” Ludger Beerbaum is certain. “I’m grateful that I was able to represent Germany as a rider. Now this job is for my younger colleagues.”
