In honor of the impending Independence Day celebrations, there is simply no better way to honor all that this good country affords us than by watching Uncle Sam positively destroy a Gamblers Choice class at the Washington International Horse Show.
In this case, the role of Uncle Sam is played by the singular, masterful, and all-around good guy Todd Minikus aboard his mighty American steed, Sweetheart, owned by Windsor Show Stables. The two beat out some very stiff competition to win the 2011 class which also featured great rides by Nick Skelton as a skeleton (but of course), Reed Kessler as a police woman, and Scott Brash as a golden snitch-chasing Harry Potter!
(Here is a great photo gallery of the event from Malet Photo)
Todd secured his win when he cleared the Georgetown Cupcake Joker fence; a massive monster which featured ACTUAL cupcakes in the jump wings. That could have gone quite awry!
Other recent winners of the class include Jessica Springsteen as a Top Gun pilot, Aaron Vale as a pro baseball player for the Anaheim Angels, and Shane Sweetnam dressed as a keg; Costumes which most certainly capture very important American ideals at their highest principled level.
What great American figure or beloved traditional drinking device will win this year’s coveted title and their chunk of the $20,000 prize? Be sure to tune in to all that the Washington International Horse Show has to offer as it’s live streamed from downtown Washington DC October 24-29, 2017. More information available at their website.
Go America, and Go Jumping!
