Brooke Kemper Claims $50,000 Grand Prix at ‘Jump for the Children’ Benefit Show

Thirty-one horse and rider combinations competed at the 29th annual $50,000 Duke Children’s Grand Prix, on Saturday November 12. at the Gov. James Hunt Horse Complex, in Raleigh, NC.
This year’s difficult course, designed by Alan Wade of Tipperary, Ireland, saw only two riders ride clear and onto the jump-off round. In the end, it was Brooke Kemper’s Classified who was victorious. The twelve-year-old Holsteiner/ Thoroughbred cross put in a strong performance to best their only competition in the jump-off, Cassandra Kahle and Redfield Farm’s Pyrenes de Louzes.
Third place was claimed by MaryAnn Charles and FVF Sailor Man, owned by Fox View Farm as the best of the non-jump-off rounds.
The 2015 winner, Melissa Rudershausen and Charmeur Ask, returned to compete and defend their title but were unable to do so this year.

The rest of the top twelve competitors featured many past winners such as Charlie Jayne, Dr. Fernando Cardenas, Andrea Simpson, Manuel Torres, Mary Lisa Leffler, and Kyle Timm.

Proceeds of the event benefit Duke Children’s Hospital and Health, Durham NC. Under the expert management of Triangle Farms, the show has grown to a six-day, USEF “AA” rated horse show. ‘Jump for the Children’ is the longest, continuously-held, annual fund-raiser for Duke Children’s.  Each November, ’Jump for the Children’ garners widespread community support from a host of area businesses and individuals.

This November, Triangle Farms celebrated its 32nd year of a relationship that has inspired compassion, dedication and support for the kids at Duke Children’s. The horse show has raised $1.6 million to date for Duke Children’s.
