Ten entries reached the jump-off by riding without penalty over the 15-jump first-round course designed by Show Jumping Hall of Famer Steve Stephens. Only three of those then rode clean over the eight-jump tiebreaker course and Chapot claimed the win by riding her Irish-bred mare to the fastest time of 37.440 seconds.
“She has just stepped up to this level and she has taken to this big grass field they have here in Lake Placid really well,” Chapot said. “I think she proved today that she’s game to go and careful enough to win a class like this.”

Placing second was U.S. Olympic veteran Peter Leone who finished the jump-off clean in 38.340 seconds on Capito Z and third place went to Irish rider Paul O’Shea who finished clean in 39.637 seconds on Skara Glen’s Presence.

Earlier in the day, Michael Hughes rode Up Front to the win in the $1,500 Milagro Tequila 1.35-Meter Jumper Class. Hughes turned in the fastest of the six fault-free rides in the one-round class, winning with a time of 52.330 seconds. Placing second was Andrew Kocher who finished clean in 52.951 seconds on Zantos II with third place going to Jennifer Jones who finished clean in 53.790 seconds on Farina.
