Looking Ahead: Quarantine, HITS Chicago, HITS Saugerties Q&A with Tom Struzzieri

If you have wondered what has been going on at HITS during this unusual time of shelter-at-home, the answer is: A LOT. HITS has made some big announcements over the past few weeks, from the purchase of Lamplight Equestrian Center, the new home of HITS Chicago, to the hopes of kicking off the summer series at HITS Saugerties and HITS Chicago the week of June 1, 2020. Assuming that plan falls within USEF and state and local guidelines at that time, the HITS summer show season will begin with the Spring Spectacular Series at HITS Chicago, June 3-21, and the third week of the Saugerties Spring Series, June 3-7. With a target start date now in mind, HITS President and CEO, Tom Struzzieri sat down to answer a few questions about HITS plans for the summer season, the state of equestrian sport, and why, in the current climate, he was willing to take a chance on purchasing Lamplight. The entire HITS team has been working diligently to prepare for the Summer Show Series at all of our sites with the safety of our exhibitors being our top priority.

Plans are being put together for a Health and Safety Protocol for all exhibitors and staff to help adjust to a new “normal” and assure a safe environment and make social distancing as comfortable as possible. More details will follow in the coming weeks.
