Sedgefield and Carolina Horse Park Announce New Partnership

The management of the Sedgefield Showgrounds Horse Shows and the Carolina Horse Park are pleased to announce the relocation of the Sedgefield Hunter Jumper Shows from Greensboro, NC, to the Carolina Horse Park (CHP) in Raeford, NC.  With the sale of the facility in Greensboro, Martin Schlaeppi and his team are working closely with the staff at the CHP to ensure the transfer of the 10 NCHJA “C” shows and the 2 USEF “A” shows (subject to USEF approval) that have historically been held at Sedgefield to CHP in 2021.

Both groups are fully prepared to take on the large number of hunter/jumper shows in 2021 and are looking forward to the increase of shows at CHP. The following amenities are available to riders, owners and trainers.

  • 200 permanent and 40 temporary stalls
  • Expansive space for lunging, hacking and grazing
  • 2 large rings with all-weather footing
  • Several additional show rings
  • 50 RV spaces
  • Visitor amenities including 3,000 hotel rooms and 200 restaurants within 15 to 20 minutes travel time

“Our team is excited about the relocation of our shows to a larger and more expansive facility where we will be able to run 4 rings concurrently and be able to accommodate more horses.  Our initial thoughts include expanding jumpers and the crossrail/beginner rings.  For those of you who haven’t showed at CHP recently, you will be very pleased by the quality of the rings and overall facility,” states Schlaeppi. “While I will miss the Greensboro area and all they provided us for so many years, the Carolina Horse Park is poised to allow all of our exhibitors the opportunity for a wonderful experience.”

The CHP is very enthusiastic to add the Sedgefield shows to their expansive calendar of competitions.

“The addition of all that Martin and his team have built over the last two decades to the CHP offerings of equestrian competition is hugely exciting for our facility as we round out our diversity of equestrian sports,” states Bryan Rosenberg, Chairman of the CHP Board of Directors.
