Operating under COVID-19 protocols and guidelines, the Split Rock Jumping Tour’s (SRJT) Sonoma International opened Wednesday, September 2 at the Sonoma Horse Park. Running with approvals from the State of California, FEI and USEF, the event will run through Sunday, September 6.
“This has been a crazy year for all of us,” said Split Rock Jumping Tour Founder and CEO Derek Braun. “We have been doing everything we can to be able to move forward with a horse show that is completely safe for everyone and we are thrilled to be underway here in Sonoma. Today was a beautiful day for showing and I think everyone is looking forward to a great week!
“I want to remind everyone that we will be strictly enforcing all COVID protocols and guidelines. I encourage everyone to read our protocols carefully as we will be taking every step necessary to see that they are followed.”
To help maintain proper social distancing, everyone is encouraged to utilize the SRJT app. The app can be used to file entries, to add/scratch, and for start lists and course designs. The Sonoma International is hosting a full schedule of show jumping classes ranging in height from .85m to 1.45m with divisions for young horses, children/adult, junior/amateur and top professionals. The schedule includes the $25,000 Restylane® 1.45m Welcome on Friday, the $20,000 Restylane® 1.35m National Prix on Saturday, and the week’s culminating event, the $50,000 Grand Prix on Sunday.
Other highlights include the $5,000 Morning Star 1.35m Winning Round on Friday, and the $5,000 Horseflight 1.40m Junior/Amateur Final, $5,000 Animo Youngster Bowl and $2,500 Morning Star 1.25m Mini Prix, all on Sunday.
Wednesday’s schedule featured six jumping classes highlighted by the $2,500 1.35m Speed Class which was won by Mark Kinsella on Stern Dei Folletti. They turned in the fastest clean round, finishing in 64.370 seconds to gain the win over Karrie Rufer on Mr. Europe who finished clean in 64.680 seconds.
