The 1st Annual Vancouver Grand Prix Presented by Thunderbird Show Park

Thunderbird Show Park ​and The City of Vancouver’s Sport Hosting Committee​ have teamed
up to bring the first premier equestrian event to be held in downtown Vancouver. 500 tons of special silica sand, a jumbotron, bleachers and massive hosting tents to the parking lot across the street from the Queen Elizabeth Theater.

The Vancouver Grand Prix is a one day equestrian showcase featuring:
– An Invitational 1.40m Equestrian Show Jumping competition
– The Vancouver Polo Club ​playing a 3:3 “Gladiator Polo” match
– An inclusive experience and introduction to two of the most exclusive sports in the world

The Vancouver Grand Prix promises to become a must-attend event for years to come!

Date​: May 20th, (Sunday of The Victoria long weekend)

– Doors open @ 2pm
– Polo starts @ 3:30 pm
– Jumping starts @ 5:30

Event details:
– General Admission is Free
– Food trucks will be on site
– Free pony rides for kids
– 500 person Strathcona Brewing Beer Garden for adults (19+)
– 8,000 sq ft fully hosted VIP area (tickets are $100 and include food and beverages)
– Reserved tables In VIP & Beer Garden are available by request

Items of note:
– Over 500 tonnes of special “olympic grade” silica sand will form a 200 x 100 ring
– Top level local and international riders will be competing and in attendance
– 30 horses will be stabled on site May 19th – May 21st
– Unique equestrian experiences available as prizing should they be required
Interviews opportunities
– Riders and Polo players will be available the week of 14th for interviews in studio
– Polo Players will be touring Vancouver (on their horses) to stimulate awareness May 18
– Horses and riders will be available in our ring on the afternoon of May 19th for interviews

Thunderbird Show Park has been running top level equestrian shows in Langley BC, for over 45 years. In 2018 we will host The Longines Jumping Nations Cup, presented by Odlum Brown on June 3rd and The Longines Jumping World Cup presented by Facet Advisors on August 26th. Both events bring the top equestrians from around the World. The Vancouver Grand Prix is our way of kicking off the season and gathering awareness for our sport.
