Watch: Alex Granato Says He Felt ‘Rusty’ but Won a $137K Grand Prix CSI3* Anyway

The Great Lakes Equestrian Festival in Traverse City, Michigan is home to a beautiful venue, organized show atmosphere, and excellent prize money ($137,000, anyone?) — not to mention, tough competition.  Alex Granato came into the $137K Grand Prix CSI3* on August 9 at Traverse City and threw down a super smooth round to score the win on Page Tredennick’s Carlchen W.  What is super nice about this round is that I love his hands; they look really soft and following as he creates this really precise track.  Also, he says:

“I’ve been feeling a little rusty while I’ve been here, so this morning I was just trying to stay focused on my horse and get back in the swing of things. [Carlchen W] jumped a great first round and then with everybody in the jump off getting faster and faster I just tried to rely on the horse I know and his speed and it paid off today.”

If this is his “rusty,” I bet he doesn’t want to see what my version of “rusty” is…  Here’s their winning round!

Congratulations, Alex! Go Jumping!
