Between the 2018 Maclay Final and last week’s George H. Morris Excellence in Equitation Championship, Sam Walker has proven that he is a force to be reckoned with in the equitation ring. Check out his winning round from the George Morris class at WEF last week below.
What I personally love most about the way that Sam rides is the light seat he maintains throughout the course. It just adds to the effortless aura that he and Waldo put off the entire ride. The approach to each fence is dead-on, not too fast, not too slow, and the horse looks genuinely pleased to be in work. The downward transition for the trot jump was smooth, and the duo picked the pace back up immediately to finish out the test. It is no wonder that this horse and rider pair were a favorite among the judges, they truly are a dream to watch!
