Weekly Sales Circuit: Grey Mares Got Hops

Whether you’re currently in the market for a new horse, casually thinking about your next partner, or creating a wish list of your dream horses, read on for some horses for sale that we love.

Featured this week are sale horses from California, Pennsylvania, and Ontario.  We chose these horses because we love a good mare!  Mares can be finicky to ride, but if you can work through things and ask politely (but be firm in times of sass), a good mare will be loyal through the ends of days.  On top of that, we’d add: There aren’t many things more gorgeous that a dappled grey mare!  These grey mares all got hops, too. They’re currently showing at the 1.30m or above.

Lorelei

2011 17h Holsteiner mare.  Imported Holsteiner mare ((Legolas x Calato). Lovely temperament, with excellent rideability. She has been shown in every ring, from the 1.30m to the hunters to the medals to the equitation ring. She is fast when you need a jumper, and she can be an eq mount when you need a handy eq horse. Very versatile and easy on the eyes.

Domino Normandy

2013 16.2h Selle Francais mare.  Top European bloodlines (Kannan x a Calato Z mare). Domino Normandy is very competitive and was 2018 5YO Horse Of The Year reserve Champion and 2019 6YO Horse Of The Year reserve Champion of her zone. In 2018, she was invited to participate to the WBFSH Developing Jumper Exhibition at World Equestrian Games in Tryon, NC. The goal of this exhibition was to showcase the quality of the North American breeding program. The event was unfortunately canceled.

She has been brought along slowly and correctly by her European trainers/owners and has competed in jumpers up to 1.30m with plenty of scope to move up.  If you are looking for a top horse that will earn blue ribbons consistently, Domino should be on your watch list. She requires no show prep for the 2020 season. No soundness issues, no vices, clean X-rays, and receives no injections.  Very charismatic mare with a personality that matches her talent over fences.  Best suited for a competitive junior/amateur rider and/or professional wanting to do the national level Grand Prix. She is forward moving with power, scope and desire to win.

2012 16.1h Hanoverian mare. This young mare is keen, brave and shows lots of scope. Could also make an equitation horse. Many show miles throughout Europe. Although due to COVID-19 her North American showing has been limited, she has shown in Ocala and has traveled to many local places to school such as Angelstone and Wesley Clover. Easy program and no maintenance.
