What Went Down on Day 3 at the Las Vegas National

Fifty-three FEI riders competed in the two-phase Welcome Jumper Classic on Wednesday afternoon to kick-off international competition at The Las Vegas National CSI3*-W. The second class of the new 1.40m division, the Open Jumper Classic, was the highlight of the evening. Highlights are below.

$7,500 FEI 1.45M WELCOME JUMPER CLASSIC, PRESENTED BY WC EQUESTRIAN

Kaitlin Cambell & Palina de l’Escaut, winners of the $7,500 FEI 1.45m Blenheim Welcome Jumper Classic, presented by WC Equestrian

Kaitlin Campbell (USA) aboard Palina de l’Escaut, owned by Paul Tracy and Spy Coast Farm, LLC, sped to a quick time of 22.79 seconds in the two-phase $7,500 FEI 1.45m Blenheim Welcome Jumper Classic, presented by WC Equestrian. Campbell shared that she appreciates the naturally fast and competitive nature of the 10-year-old Hanoverian mare that she has only been paired with for three months. Cassio Rivetti (BRA) and Natalia Czernik’s Fenna finished second with a time of 23.25 seconds while Nikolaj Hein Ruus (DEN) and Crusador Z, owned by Spruce Meadows Ltd., finished in third with time of 23.71 seconds.

$20,000 1.40M OPEN JUMPER CLASSIC, PRESENTED BY EVERGATE STABLES

The $20,000 1.40m Open Jumper Classic, presented by Evergate Stables, tested 48 entries over a Leopoldo Palacios and Catalina Cruz designed track. With 17 returning for the jump-off, it was Christian Heineking and Heineking Show Stables’ Cento Blue who claimed the blue ribbon, finishing in an unbeatable 34.737 seconds. Melody Liu aboard Carnutelabryere, owned by Shelly Gambardella, finished second with a time of 34.998 seconds. Michael Tokaruk navigated Shelby Beard’s Steel The Love to a short-course time of 35.644 seconds to round out the top three.

DAY FOUR: WHAT’S TO COME & SCHEDULE
With twenty-five qualified competitors looking to earn a percentage of a purse totaling $42,900, the Markel Insurance 1.45m Jumper Series Final will culminate an exciting season. In the $36,000 FEI 1.50m Las Vegas Welcome Speed Jumper Classic, seventy-four entries will vie for one of forty spots in Saturday’s $100,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Las Vegas. The AON/USHJA National Championships will crown champions in three Green Hunter Divisions on Thursday and an overall High Score and High Point horse for the section. As well as the Child and Adult 1.00m Jumper Sections will wrap up with championship honors.
NOTE: The South Point Arena and the Priefert Pavilion both begin at 7:30 a.m. Due to the volume of horses, there will be posted orders of go that will be strictly adhered to. Please plan accordingly and enjoy the ride!
