The young riders of today have the ability to be the equestrian idols of tomorrow. We partnered up with Kentucky Performance Products to scour the internet for budding hunter jumpers who have taken the world by storm. Check out these five young riders who have amassed quite the following on Instagram and seem to have bright futures ahead of them.
Mel Vanderkamp
At just 12 years old, Mel Vanderkamp has already captured the hearts of over 40,000 people on Instagram! This young rider resides in the Netherlands and rides under the tutelage of the highly praised sales trainer, Stal Wilten. Believe it or not, Mel only began riding four years ago, but that hasn’t slowed this superstar down! Mel can be found kicking butt in the show ring and he recently shared a video of him coursing 1.50m at home!
Harry Allen
The younger brother of Irish sensation, Bertram Allen, Harry was practically destined for the show ring. At just 18 years old, Harry is already contesting and winning 1* Grand Prix classes with ease. Watch one of his more recent winning rounds below!
Genevieve Munson
JN did a feature on this talented young woman last summer and her fire remains hot! Fourteen year old Genevieve Munson doesn’t let anything hold her back, despite the fact that she rides at home in Northwest Arkansas and mainly meets up with trainers at shows. Her resume already boasts numerous accolades and we anticipate they will only continue to grow as she does!
Hailey Royce
You may remember this rider’s name in partnership with her former pony, Rapidash. Hailey Royce has capitalized on social media and at just fourteen years old already has acquired a handful of sponsors to help her see to her dreams. With several top 10 finishes at WEF this past winter, Hailey has kicked 2019 off in fine form!
Kat Fuqua
This little ball of fire may have been born in a Dressage family, but the hunter jumper ring called her name at an early age. Not many twelve-year-olds can claim they own national titles, but Kat sure can! Not only has Kat claimed several WEF titles, but in 2018 she and her pony, Brighton, won all three phases of their division at Pony Finals and were crowned Grand Champion.
