How NOT to Win the USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals, Presented by Draper Therapies

2019 competitors, take note!

The 2019 USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship is underway in the Rolex Stadium at the Kentucky Horse Park! Over the next two days, 76 entries from around the country will be battling it out over beefed-up yet technical courses that test style, scope and bravery.

Speaking of which, you can have all the style and scope in the world but it you don’t have bravery … well, here’s a montage of past Derby competitors who fell a bit short on that front:

Who’ll take the top prize at this year’s USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship? We’ll find out soon enough! Heavy-hitters in the mix include multiple past Derby series leading riders — keep your eye on #1 ranked Kelley Farmer, who has collected $615,010 in Derby series winnings over the past three years; #5 ranked Tori Colvin, who won the Championship last year; and other top 10 ranked riders including #6 Jenny Karazissis and #7 Holly Shepherd.

UPDATE: Hot off the presses …. Tori Colvin and El Primero topped today’s Classic Round with a score of 284! Here’s a video of her round:

Winning round: Tori Colvin and El Primero topped the Classic Round at 2019 Platinum Performance/USHJA Int'l Hunter Derby Championship earlier today with a score of 284! The Handy Round will begin tomorrow at 6:30 pm and can be live streamed via EQSportsNet.
