While the show ring has a life of its own, there’s just as much if not more going on behind the scenes: moments of heartfelt (or hilarious!) interaction between horses and riders, back-at-the-barn antics, the buzz of an in-gate pep talk, the moments that remind us that we do this thing for reasons much more than ribbons.

Each week we comb Instagram for photos we think captured “the moment,” whatever that moment may be, perfectly. This week’s theme: “the quiet ones.”

One of the reasons we are in Florida is for WEF – the Winter Equestrian Festival. This festival brings thousands of riders and approximately 3500 horses from around the world to Wellington Florida for the season. Usually it’s all hustle and bustle of a huge and busy horse show, but sometimes you sees a moment of serenity.
