The Longines Global Champions Tour kicks off its 14th season today in the spectacular destination of Doha. The LGCT brings together the top show jumpers in the world to compete in prestigious locations for unprecedented prize money, offering some of the most explosive and exciting competition of any equestrian series.
The launchpad to the 2020 season at AL SHAQAB, part of Qatar Foundation, welcomes international horses and riders from around the world. Founded by His Highness the Father Emir, this spectacular venue will see the best athletes in the world kick-start their campaign for the prestigious LGCT and Global Champions League titles, as riders and teams battle for supremacy in the Championship series.

The LGCT was founded by Jan Tops, one of the most well-recognized and experienced figures in showjumping. Tops won numerous individual and team championship titles, including an Olympic Team Gold medal in Barcelona in 1992. He launched CSI Valkenswaard and then turned his vision to comprehensively raise standards across the entire sport. In 2006, he launched the Global Champions Tour and transformed the world of international showjumping.
