Many of the best horses in the world will be in action at the Longines Global Champions Tour of Madrid, with the stars of show jumping heading to the stunning Spanish setting to compete in round six of the Championship. The impressive grass arena will provide the back drop to world class competition with the promise of plenty of top level sport as the championship battle hots up.

Ranking leader Christian Ahlmann (GER) brings two of his top horses, Taloubet Z and Caribis Z, and will look to be placed in the Grand Prix this weekend, making it six out of six events where the German rider brings home a rosette.

Last year’s LGCT Grand Prix of Madrid winner and overall LGCT Champion of Champions Luciana Diniz (POR) will ride her LGCT Grand Prix of Doha winning mare, the plucky chestnut Fit For Fun 13, and will also bring Lennox to compete at the CSI5* shows this weekend. John Whitaker (GBR) will ride his formidable stallion Argento, one of the most respected stallions on the show jumping circuit, as well as Lord of Arabia and his dapple grey 8 year old Cassinis Chaplin.

Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS) brings her talented mare, Caretina de Joter, a combination who prove faultless time and time again, while Irish star Bertram Allen will bring the big grey stallion Hector van d’Abdijhoeve and his speedy chestnut Quiet Easy 4. World Number 7 Gregory Wathelet (BEL) will compete with his stunning chestnut Citizenguard Taalex and Eldorado van het Vijverhof, and Eric Lamaze (CAN) brings one of his top horses, Rosana du Park, to compete in the historic venue.

Proven LGCT Grand Prix horses will once more be in action for round six of the Championship, with Roger-Yves Bost (FRA) riding his LGCT Grand Prix of Mexico City winning horse, Qoud’Coeur de la Loge, a mount suited to the galloping grass arenas and lively crowds. Marcus Ehning (GER) will ride Cristy and Pret a Tout, the latter a horse that took him to fourth place at the LGCT Grand Prix of Hamburg and compatriot Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (GER) brings two of her top horses, the stunning greys Comanche and the impressive Fibonacci 17.

Madrid will also welcome Sheikh Ali Bin Khalid Al Thani’s (QAT) top horse Vienna Olympic and the impressive grey stallion Imperio Egipcio Milton. Lauren Hough (USA) will ride the eye-catching grey gelding Cornet 39 and her 11 year old bay mare Royalty Des Isles, with compatriot Jessica Springsteen (USA) bringing two of her top horses, the grey 9 year old gelding Cynar v. and her talented 14 year old bay gelding Vindicat W.
