What a Win Wednesday: Eric Lamaze and Hickstead, Spruce Meadows 2007

In honor of Eric Lamaze’s beautiful win over the weekend in the IJRC Top 10 Final with Fine Lady 5, we’re bringing you a victory from his days on the magnificent Hickstead.

The legendary stallion was beloved by Eric, his owners, and show jumping fans alike before his untimely death in 2011. He was the 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist and a true ambassador of the sport. The pair had a laundry list of wins including:

  • Sept. 2011 – Grand Prix of Barcelona €100,000
  • Sept. 2011 – Spruce Meadows $1 million CN International
  • Aug. 2011 – Win 1.55m competition in Rotterdam, The Netherlands €23,000
  • July 2011 – Spruce Meadows $200,000 Queen Elizabeth II Cup (Record 4x)
  • May 2011 – 200,000 Euro Grand Prix of Rome, 200,000 Euro Grand Prix of La Baule,
  • July 2010 – Spruce Meadows $200,000 Queen Elizabeth II Cup
  • July 2010 – Aachen World Equestrian Festival
  • Oct. 2009 – €120,000 Equita Masters in Lyon, France
  • Aug. 2008 – Olympic Individual Gold Medal, Beijing
  • Sept. 2007 – Spruce Meadows $1 million CN International

Friday was clearly an emotional win for Eric, who credited Fine Lady 5’s owners at Artisan Farms for helping him rebound from losing Hickstead and giving him the ride on such a talented mare. Congratulations to Eric, Fine Lady 5 and all their connections!
