US Equestrian’s 2016 Junior Equestrian of the Year Lizzy Traband’s acceptance speech merited a standing ovation from the audience gathered at the Pegasus Awards. The Pegasus Awards are US Equestrian’s annual recognition of achievement, honoring members who have served the world of equestrian sport.
Lizzy Traband is a well-known performer and equestrian ambassador, not only as a competitive rider but as a trick rider and bridleless performer at multiple venues. Traband was born with only one hand, and her success and perseverance in the equestrian world has been an inspiration to anyone working to overcome challenges.
Watch her acceptance speech that brought the crowd to its feet: (speech begins around 2:37)
Traband continues to compete in the hunter, jumper and dressage rings. Here’s a video from a jumper round at Swan Lake from June of 2016, where her double-clear performance placed her and Woegandia in fifth.
Our hats are off to Lizzy Traband for her service as a role model and ambassador for the equestrian world!
Go Jumping.
