It was a fabulous easy win for Ashley Fleischhacker and Auckland De L’Enclos after a very weird few weeks. The pair are still just getting to know each other, and Ashley has been out of the tack recovering from an injury, but the two still put together the only clear round of the welcome class at the Chicago Festival of the Horse to take the win in the $25,000 class.
“He is one that I haven’t had for very long,” Ashley said after the win. “I’ve been off for a few weeks because I had surgery on my ankle, so this was my first class back. It’s a nice way to come back! He’s extremely scopey, a bit quirky, funny, but a brave, good, honest man.”
“It was a good course for him because of all of the turns and the lines actually worked out better for him than I think most horses. He could leave out some strides and the turns were all in his favorite direction. He’s just got so much scope it’s like a piece of cake for him.”
You can see their full winning round below. Congratulations, Ashley and Auckland, and stay tuned to Jumper Nation for more from Chicago Festival of the Horse at Lamplight Equestrian Center!
